WHO WE ARE
Rain Coast Choir is a non-auditioned, 4-part Rock/Pop choir based in East Vancouver, BC and led by Joline Baylis. We create fine-tuned vocal arrangements of classic songs and current favourites. Over the years, we’ve sung songs by Paul Simon, Fiona Apple, The Beach Boys, Neil Young, Bahamas, M. Ward, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen and more! All songs are learned by ear with lyrics sheets and practice tracks provided... no need to read music notation, and no prior choir experience necessary!
We meet every Wednesday evening from 8:30-10pm at the gorgeous Full Circle Studio (1183 Odlum Drive). We hold performances at the end of each season, bringing in local independent artists to showcase and collaborate.
For our Spring 2019 Season, we will be paying tribute to artists we’ve lost - David Bowie, Prince, Dolores Riordan (The Cranberries), Gord Downie (The Tragically Hip), Amy Winehouse, Joe Cocker, Leonard Cohen, Levon Helm (The Band), and Aretha Franklin.
Our intake period for the Season is currently closed, though exceptions may be possible by emailing email@example.com.
Our next open intake period will be for our Fall Season, beginning September 4th. 2019.
All new members enjoy their first practice free - come see if Rain Coast Choir is right for you!
Spring 2019 Membership dues are as follows:
$160 Full Season (Paid by Jan. 1st - 20 weeks)
$135 Post Cut-off Season (Paid by Feb. 1st - 16 weeks)

Our Fall Season runs from September to December, and Spring Season from January to May. We break for the holidays over Christmas and New Years, and again for the Summer.
NEW MEMBER INTAKE
Our open intake period for new members occurs during the first month of each Season. All skill levels and backgrounds are welcome, and the first practice is free to come try it out.
We spend each term gradually building our repertoire and working towards a concert at the end of the Season, so it is important for members to be up-to-speed with the material as we go. Singers are encouraged to consider choir a weekly commitment for the duration of the Season. This helps to create a cohesive group, and allows each member to get the most out of the Rain Coast Choir experience!
If you hear about Rain Coast after our intake period has ended, please drop us a line! Some exceptions may be made for folks who have the capability and desire to get caught up on their own time, using the practice tracks and lyrics sheets available, and attending practices regularly for the remainder of the Season. Requests to join after the open intake period will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and may require an interview or audition for approval.
All of the Rain Coast Choir practice materials (audio tracks and lyrics) can be found on Dropbox. For each song, there is a full-choir track, and if you know your section (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone) you can sing along with the specific track that has your part isolated to help you get it solid! These practice tracks also make it easy to stay up-to-date with what we’re working on if you have to miss a week.
We have a Facebook Group where we keep in touch, share song ideas, help each other with questions, and get to know each other better. Feel free to join our community and introduce yourself... we’d love to meet you!
We also have a Facebook Page, which showcases our news, activities, and performances. Here you can find out when we are taking in new members, stay in the loop for choir shows, etc.
